Department of Foreign Languages

The Department of "Foreign Languages" of Journalism and Mass Communications  University of Uzbekistan was established on August 28, 2020. Today, the department provides in-depth and up-to-date knowledge in such subjects as "Foreign language (field-oriented foreign language), "Practical foreign language", "Second foreign language" in the field of journalism education. The main task of the department is to carry out activities on educational, educational-methodical issues, spiritual and educational and scientific-methodical works, as well as discussion of relevant problems with students, to form students' skills to conduct independent research, to introduce the specific features of political processes at the modern stage, to help students to get independent education.

Educational works

Pedagogical staff of the department conducts practical training for undergraduate and graduate students in the following subjects:

"Practical foreign language";

"Foreign language (field-oriented foreign language);

"Second foreign language".

Educational literature for the above-mentioned subjects is fully provided. Educational and methodological manuals, educational and methodological complexes are constantly updated. In the center of information resources of the university, all topics are presented in electronic versions.

In the 2020-2021 academic year, 9 master's degree students attached to the department are conducting research on master's theses.

"Practical foreign language".

Scientific and scientific-methodical works

The scientific potential of the department is 13%. 2 members of the department have the degree of doctor of philosophy (PhD).

The average age of the teaching staff of the department is 35 years. 10 scientific articles in the international SCOPUS, WEB of Science, 40 articles in foreign journals with impact factor, 20 articles in the local journal of OAK, and more than 50 international theses were prepared and published by the teaching staff of the department.

A memorandum was drawn up by the department between the Indian Cultural Center named after Lal Bahadur Shastri and the Uzbek-Chinese Institute named after Confucius under TSUOS

 

Spiritual and educational works

Lectures on various topics are being held in enterprises, organizations and institutions based on the plan set by the professors and teachers of the department.

 

In order to ensure the implementation of the decision of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated May 19, 2021, a number of measures have been defined. One of them is a Language center that teaches foreign languages. This Language Center has been paid for by the university and was put into use to. Professors and teachers of the Department of Foreign Languages are directly involved in the language center. Currently, there are 40 professors and teachers working at the Department of Foreign Languages. All teachers have a C1 level language certificate. About 10 languages are being taught at the Language Center. These are: Uzbek, English, German, French, Spanish, Arabic, Turkish, Chinese, Korean, Russian languages. Our language center has a total of 8 auditoriums, which allow 120 students to receive language training at the same time. All rooms are equipped with modern technical equipment, there are all conditions for learning and teaching the language.
